Hey Mamas, Its Semone again with another blog about preparing for the hospital delivery. As you know by now I might have had a different experience from you. Therefore, I asked you mamas the question "what did you packed or is packing into your hospital bags?" Many of you had messaged me privately with your answers and others wrote comments on my tiktok post.

When I was having my baby I was given some books, print outs and brochures by the prenatal clinic I was visiting. I was also told by my midwife the stuff that would be essential for packing in my hospital bag. To my surprise I was confused as to the little things she asked me to pack and these included and was mostly optional:

  • Documents

  • One suit of clothes to go home (baby and mom)

  • Blanket (optional)

  • Bedslippers

  • Toothbrush/toothpaste optional

  • Soap (optional)

  • Hair brush/comb

  • Deodorant

  • Towel/washcloth (optional)

  • Socks (optional)

  • Phone chargers

  • Cameras

  • lip balm

  • Nursing bra

  • Waterbottle (optional)

Mamas no joke about it, we tend to over pack for just about everything. Even for a three days vacation we would pack for three weeks. I think its innate for women so yes we will over pack for the hospital as well. Things I did not need in my hospital bag included and was not limited

  • Sanitary napkin

  • Diapers

  • Change of clothes/night gowns

  • Bottles

  • Nursery essential: such as rubbing alcohol, baby comb and brush etc

  • Baby outfits

  • Blankets

  • Hats

  • Diaper rash cream

  • Snacks

  • Bra pads

I did not use some of the stuff I mentioned because I was given them by the hospital. Therefore, I went home with more than what I went to the hospital with. The hospital provided all the essentials needed such as:

  • Sanitary napkins/ disposable underwear

  • Spray bottle

  • Healing pads

  • Night gowns

  • Socks

  • Snack

  • Water

  • Pacifier

  • Bottles

  • Combs

  • Formulas

  • Hats

  • Blankets

*Keep in mind that this was not Jamaica*
